On this Good Friday in the year of our Lord 2017, I would like to remind you of something: Jesus didn’t have to do it.
As we reflect this day that Jesus is the Christian hope that through him, God has made provision for our redemption and repair:
Jesus didn’t have to do it.
As we reflect upon the legacy of Jesus, the Master Teacher, the Pioneer and Perfecter of our faith:
Jesus didn’t have to do it.
Jesus, the same yesterday, today and forever, the evidence of what God can accomplish when you give yourself to God’s purpose:
Jesus didn’t have to do it.
The Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus was arrested, still stands today. And if you ever have the opportunity to stand in it, realize this: Jesus could have escaped. Had Jesus decided that what he faced was too much, he could have easily booked it outta there. The Garden of Gethsemane even today has many escape routes. When the authorities came to take him into custody, he did not have to submit. He had options.
He didn’t have to do it.
